An alle meine deutschen Leser: Keine Sorge :) Es wird auch eine deutsche Version geben. Diese ist (später) weiter unten zu finden!

So, my blog does look a bit different now! I spent an afternoon with Danii working on it and I am quite proud that it looks a lot better than it did before! Thanks again! Another sign of me actually being an idiot concerning computer things but I did it ;) Furthermore, I am going to write in English now as I realized that I actually have a few international readers. Welcome all my English-speaking fellas ;) I hope you'll enjoy reading my entries.

At the moment I am struggeling to keep you updated. There is so much going on and I don't really know where to start. Catering business is getting busy again and I am also working my second job as a ski instructor inbetween. What I figured out so far: Snow schools are basically the same in Canada as they are in Germany and Austria. Kids running around all over and generally a bit chaotic but this is how it needs to be! This is something I am not doing because I get much money out of it, this is something I am doing because it just feels good to do it (yeah I started rethinking that phrase after a whole day with 4 year olds but anyway ;D I think you get the point). Skiing just is my passion and I would like to pass on the special vibe it has for me to everybody who is at least somehow interested! At the snow school I work at, I am also getting a good amount of training in. I'm working really hard on my 'Canadian' style and I am slowly getting there. It still requires a lot of brain work to get my body to move in the new different pattern, but I am getting there.

My days off are also packed with activities! As I don't really like staying at home, especially as there is so much stuff to do around here, I am trying to have as many adventures as possible. Of course, money is a bit of a limiting factor, but anyways. I trying to make the best possible out of it and basically get as much skiing in as possible. Additionally, I just booked a trip to Hawaii which I am really really looking forward too! I just need a break from all the hard work we are doing here in this freaky business. So, for a week in February I am just going to enjoy the sun and not spent a single thought on snow ;) When I came here, I did not expect to work this job and have these crazy hours, but things never work out the way you planned them to do. So better make the best out of it.

A few weeks ago I did the Banff Ambassador tour with Philipp where locals get a tour around Banff and a lot of other benefits for just 5 bucks. It started off as a snowy day, but later on the sun came out and it became a beautiful day! The impossible happend: They showed us quite a few places we haven't been to yet and we have been missing out! Furthermore, we saw a coyote as well as a gang of young elk! Finally I get to see a few animals over here... I still haven't seen a moose which makes me really sad (also, I haven't seen a bear... can you please wake up soon that I can see you guys around??) Of course it was super cold and I didn't wear thermos... So much for getting used to it. I did get used to it, but thermos are still quite nice sometimes ;)

Last week, I went skiing at the Lake Louise ski resort for the first time! And it was absolutely awesome! I am ok with skiing in Norquay and in Sunshine (both these resorts are a bit closer to Banff), but Lake Louise finally is what I expected from skiing in Canada! Yeah I know, I said I am going skiing as much as possible but it was somehow not what I expected. The Canadian resorts just can't keep up with the European one's... They need to do a lot of technical updates to get where the Europeans are and there is still a not enough snow. I am still waiting for my first really big dump and the real pow pow... but that day was a good start and I had lots of fun with Lucas and Hana and a few other guys we know and spontaneously met over there. 

But, anyway, February, could you please give us some nice snow as a nice little present ;))) I would appreciate that.

I took a few awesome pictures that day, but they don't really give a credit for the real thing. Believe me, that is even more amazing. This is what Europe can't give to you: the endless width of the Rockies with nothing on it to spoil the view.

As you can see, there is a lot of stuff going on and this entry does not even cover my 'regular' events as in going out for food, drinks or in the club now and then, being invited to a few birthday parties, nice get togethers with cooking and wine with the girls, going ice skating, to the hot springs ... It is an endless story over here. But I like it. Sometimes, I even forget that I actually have to work really hard to keep this lifestyle.

A few things will change in the next time as a few people I really like are leaving, but it will work out. At least I get to keep a few of my companions and ski buddies ;)

So, ich melde mich auch mal wieder zurück! In den letzten Wochen ist doch einiges passiert :)

Über Weihnachten hatte ich Besuch von meinen Eltern!!! Da habe ich mich natürlich wahnsinnig gefreut und wir haben gemeinsam viel unternommen. Glücklicherweise war arbeitstechnisch nicht viel los, daher hatte ich sogar mal wieder mehr Zeit! Das war nach der Zeit vor Weihnachten auch einmal bitter nötig. Wir waren z.B gemeinsam am Lake Louise, im Johnston Canyon und in Calgary und auch alleine haben die beiden die Gegend erkundet. Natürlich wurden Mama und Peter gleich mal ins kalte Wasser geschmissen und haben ein paar Tage erwischt, an denen es richtig kalt war (bis zu -25), aber soweit ich weiß sind sie unbeschadet davongekommen ;) 

Weihnachten selbst war dann doch etwas anders als sonst. Es waren ja nur wir 3 und dazu noch nicht zuhause... Dazu kam, dass bei uns hier leider nie so wirklich Weihnachtsstimmung aufgekommen ist. Ich habe an unzählbar vielen Weihnachtsfeiern bedient und selbst die Dauerbeschallung mit Weihnachtsmusik hat irgendwie nicht geholfen. Am Tag vorher, als Mama und Peter angekommen sind ging es dann ein bisschen besser, aber es war trotzdem sehr sehr anders als gewöhnlich. Wir haben dann letztendlich mexikanisch gegessen am Weihnachtsabend, was sehr gut war, aber ich habe Raclette vermisst! Sowas kennt hier keiner!!! Also hiermit möchte ich schonmal für nächstes Weihnachten anmelden: Raclette essen!!!!

Nach 10 Tagen hieß es dann schon wieder Abschied nehmen. Ich habe die Zeit sehr genossen und der Abschied ist auch nicht leicht gefallen. Eltern in greifbarer Nähe zu haben ist doch etwas anderes, als hin und wieder mal zu skypen oder zu telefonieren. Die beiden haben sich am 2. Januar auf den Weg nach Seattle gemacht und danach nochmal ein paar Tage Vancouver angeschaut. Heute ging dann der Flieger zurück. Das ist schon etwas komisch!

Welcome 2015!

So begann mein Jahr 2015 doch etwas anders als sonst. Zunächst einmal habe ich an Silvester selbst arbeiten müssen. Meine Eltern waren auf der Party bei uns im Hotel und es war wundervoll, ihnen direkt ein frohes neues Jahr zu wünschen. Aber sonst haben wir leider das Feuerwerk verpasst und auch sonst habe ich die einmalige Stimmung vom Silvesterabend vermisst, es war halt ein Abend auf der Arbeit wie jeder andere auch. Aber so ist das leider. Immerhin waren alle meine lieben Arbeitskollegen in der selben Situation und wir durften nachdem alles vorbei war auch einmal anstoßen!!! Danach kam der Abschied von meinen Eltern und zusätzlich noch Krissys Abschied... Die ist nämlich nach Lethbridge gegangen, weil sie dort einen Praktikumsplatz hat! Das ist natürlich sehr exciting und ich bin auch schon ganz gespannt auf ihre Erzählungen, aber der 2. Januar war dann stimmungsmäßig schon irgendwie gelaufen.

Ja, so geht es dahin, mein Banff Life ;) Wie üblich größere und kleinere Dramen, hin und wieder mal weggehen und gemütlich ein Bierchen trinken und natürlich: SKIFAHREN!!!!!!!!!!! Das Beste überhaupt!!!!!!!! Dank etwas Freizeit habe ich endlich ein paar Skitage hinter mir und auch gerade mein erstes Skilehrer-Wochenende absolviert, somit bin ich im Grunde noch immer soweit zufrieden mit meinem Leben hier. Klar ist die Jobsitutation immer noch nicht ideal, aber mein grober Plan für meinen weiteren Aufenthalt steht jetzt und ich plane einen Trip nach Hawaii im Februar, also kann ich mich eigentlich im Moment nicht beschweren!!!

Mein Plan für heute Abend beinhaltet jetzt erstmal koreanisch Essen gehen mit ein paar Freunden und danach noch was trinken gehen!
